“It’s a quiet poem, a light choreography a seance.
It’s a man, in a blue shirt, waving his arms about, a dance.
It’s a phrase, a refrain, a language.
It’s a magic trick.”

In Burrows is an act of speaking and listening, of moving and pausing, always burrowing. Shifting between poetry, movement and prayer, In Burrows is an act of faith – a slow fall into the gaps between words, hoping to find something worth landing on.

In Burrows is a new performance by theatre-maker Andy Edwards, which explores themes of language and communication. Supported by Glasgow Connected Arts Network, Andy will be working with BSL-fluent artist Amy Cheskin to devise a visual language for the work, which might engage both D/deaf and hearing audiences.

WASPS Studios are offering Andy in-kind support for this project, providing him with use of the exhibition space at South Block for a period development, rehearsal and discussion. The work will then be presented at Tron Theatre on the 23rd and 24th of March 2018. For further details of the performances see: www.tron.co.uk/event/in-burrows.

As part of this project, Andy, and the wider In Burrows team, will be commissioning two performances on a similar theme from artists based in Glasgow. To support this process, Andy has launched a crowdfunding campaign. For more details, see: www.indiegogo.com/projects/in-burrows-created-by-andy-edwards-arts#/

To conclude the project, Andy will be hosting a CONNECT event in conjunction with Glasgow Connected Arts Network, on the 31st of March 2018. This event will explore possible strategies for emerging artists to make their work accessible. Further details will be announced soon.
